Can I Say It Again? I Love This Job!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, what a great start to my new job.
On my first day, right out of the gate I had a cardiac mega code.
For those of you who don't know what that is a cardiac mega code is what you see on TV, where you stick a breathing tube in and push IV drugs and do all the shocking and external pacing and it's fast and furious and you race down the street lights and sirens going....AWESOME!

Third call-first day....Man vs. Train.

Legs on the outside of the tracks...
Man on the inside of the tracks...
Pieces of meat every where...
Was bearly breathing when we first got to him, but after a few ventilations he was talking to us.
Knew he was hit by a train too. AMAZING!!!
Second day I had some great rollover accidents...and a guy who was shot in the face and leg.
Man, we run and run all day long. We barely have time to get out of the E.R. when we are on another call.

Crippling Snow Storm!

What a horrible crippling snow storm.
Tulsa is shut down because of the perilous driving conditions.
The news keeps giving weather updates telling everyone to stay home and if they have to go out to drive slowly and carefully. They advise people to carry extra coats with them and to have blankets in the car just in case they break down.
I'm afraid to go out....it's like 23 degrees and there is an inch of snow on the ground...
What Kind of Frozen Tundra have I brought my family to?

I hope you all realize that this post is dripping with mocking sarcasm.

My family was there as as surprise.
What's even cooler, my emplolyer, knew about them coming as a surprise and footed the bill.

Oh

I graduate from the Academy tomorrow.
Have two days off then start my four 12 hour shifts on Sunday.
Didn't want to work on a Sunday. I'm liking the being able to go to church, finally.
Hopefully, when I'm done with my oreintation rides I'll get a good shift to bid on.
I may have to buy a disposable camera so that some one can take pictures so my family can see some of the ceremony.

Valentine's Day

Can I just say that Valentine's Day sucks when you are alone?
Killed a bit of the lonliness shoping at Target, though.
That way my mind was on looking for the cheapest NSAID rather than going back to an empty quarters.
Ok, just wanted to solicit some sympathy.
I'm done.

Score!!!!

Finally found a house.
4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath.
2036 sqft
There is another room that's listed as a game room, but is the biggest "bedroom" in the house which we will use as a guestroom.

The agreed on the offer and I am very happy with it.
We don't close until the 10th of March and that will be when the family will come down.
Wow, what a weight off the shoulders.
Now I can FULLY concentrate on my job.
Man, I'm happy!
Great location too.
Fast access to the interstate, best school district in Oklahoma.
Can't wait for the family to come down and see it!

House Hunting

Oh, my.
Hunting for a house sucks.
We are kind of limited too.
I HAVE to be in the Tulsa city limits because of a contract agreement, but I want to have Jenk's or Union school districts here in Tulsa. (Tulsa Schools are some of the worst in the nation)
I have been outbid on 4 houses.
Heck the last one was listed at $107K, I bid $125K and it sold for $135K. What kind of a deal is THAT????
At least the family isn't moving down until March 8th.
I have a bit more time to find one.

Finished the driving course yesterday. That was fun, zipping around the course in an ambulance going lights and sirens.

Now comes the map portion of the academy. Can you say confusing? Man, Tulsa is way screwed up with the way everything is named. At least I'll be the ranking one in the ambulance and I'll let the other guy/gal drive while I sit and get to know the city better.

I think I have a good chance of being the top of my class so I can make the bid for the shift I want. That will rock if it happens.

Update

Still in the academy.
No home, no family down here, no computer.
Living in an abandoned (backup) Fire Station.
Tulsa is a nice place, traffic sucks, but the people are great
Only 3.2 Beer. :(
