Working On The Night Shift

So, for an equitable and fair way of decding who works what shift, every six months my company has "Shift Bids".
Shift Bids are based upon seniority. Every month you work for the company you get a point.
So, I've been here for Six months and I get 6 whopping points!
That means I get the choice of the very best of the bottom of what's left.
19:30 to 07:30 Thurdays -through- Sundays.
So, six months of this.
At least I have a good partner.

Nights.
It's dark at night.

He Did It His Way

-Father's day-
Maybe it's appropriate that I post this topic today...
Maybe not, but here goes.

Last Monday, June 12th we finally burried my father.
I think that I had written before, that my father died December 28th of 2005.
He wanted to be cremated. Which he was, but my mother really didn't want him burried in Nevada. So, she had his ashes sent to Omaha, Ne. Where they have sat, in her room....since then.

We wanted some time after the kids are our of shcool and during a time that I wouldn't have to take any vacation time (I just started a new job so I have none accrued) so Monday was the day.

My dad was a unique guy. You really couldn't peg him into any specific hole, because when you did, you'd fine he didn't fit.
So it was appropriate that he would have a unique post mortem request.

Dad wanted to be cremated...not too unusual...and burried in a Music box that played the tune "I did It My Way" by Frank Sinatra....a bit more unusual. So we did.

And now, the end is here
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and ev'ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way,
"Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way"

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows and did it my way!

[instrumental]

Yes, it was my way

Happy Father's day Dad.
I love you.

Omaha

This was just sent to me.
It's about my home town -- my home town...which I will visit soon....
  • Omaha

  • Um...click on the name of my home town.
It's the blue tinted capital of Nebraska.
Not that "It's" blue tinted, the city, I mean, the word above is.
You will find it amusing, I'm sure.
